A First Taste of Eternity
On May 10, 2026, twenty-three of our children received their first Holy Communion. Receiving First Holy Communion is one of the most important moments in a Catholic’s life, marking the first time a person receives Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Catholics believe in the Real Presence—that the bread and wine become the true Body and Blood of Christ during the Mass. This is not a symbol or a gesture, but a profound mystery in which Christ Himself becomes truly present under the appearance of bread and wine. In receiving the Eucharist, we are united intimately with Jesus, nourished spiritually, and drawn deeper into the life of the Church. For children receiving First Communion, it is the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Christ in the Sacrament that sustains us and brings us closer to eternal life.
Un Primer Sabor de la Eternidad
El 10 de mayo de 2026, veintitres de nuestros niños recibieron su primera Comunión. Recibir la Primera Comunión es uno de los momentos más importantes en la vida de un católico, ya que marca la primera vez que una persona recibe a Jesucristo en la Eucaristía. Los católicos creen en la Presencia Real—que el pan y el vino se convierten en el verdadero Cuerpo y la verdadera Sangre de Cristo durante la Misa. Esto no es un símbolo ni un gesto, sino un misterio profundo en el cual Cristo mismo se hace verdaderamente presente bajo la apariencia de pan y vino. Al recibir la Eucaristía, nos unimos íntimamente con Jesús, somos alimentados espiritualmente y nos adentramos más profundamente en la vida de la Iglesia. In honor of America’s 250th year, the 2026 National Eucharistic Pilgrimage will carry the theme One Nation Under God. One Nation Under God is not a slogan—it’s an invitation to realign our lives, communities, and country under the sovereignty of Christ. It’s a call to build unity through prayer, and to let Jesus, present in the Eucharist, renew and heal the heart of our country, one soul at a time. As pilgrims on this route, we walk with Christ so that His love might draw our nation back to Him. You’re invited to join us, in person or in spirit, and offer prayers and sacrifices for the renewal of America.
The pilgrimage begins over Memorial Day weekend in St. Augustine, Florida, where the first Mass in our country was celebrated at the Our Lady of La Leche Shrine at Mission de Nombres. The route will continue up the Eastern Seaboard through most of the 13 original colonies, reaching as far north as New Hampshire and Maine.
Stops will be made in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, our country’s very first Catholic diocese, as well as the Archdiocese of Boston to visit significant national historical sites. The pilgrimage concludes over the 4th of July weekend in Philadelphia, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

En honor al 250.º aniversario de Estados Unidos, la Peregrinación Eucarística Nacional 2026 llevará el tema Una Nación Bajo Dios. Una Nación Bajo Dios no es un eslogan; es una invitación a realinear nuestras vidas, comunidades y país bajo la soberanía de Cristo. Es un llamado a construir unidad a través de la oración y a permitir que Jesús, presente en la Eucaristía, renueve y sane el corazón de nuestra nación, un alma a la vez. Como peregrinos en esta ruta, caminamos con Cristo para que Su amor atraiga a nuestra nación de regreso a Él. Estás invitado a unirte a nosotros, en persona o en espíritu, y ofrecer oraciones y sacrificios por la renovación de Estados Unidos.
La peregrinación comienza durante el fin de semana del Día de los Caídos (Memorial Day) en St. Augustine, Florida, donde se celebró la primera Misa en nuestro país en el Santuario de Nuestra Señora de La Leche en Mission de Nombres.
