PASTORAL VISIT OF OUR BISHOP OF THE DIOCESE OF CHARLESTON
On June 22, 2026, the community of Mission San Antonio in Hardeville, South Carolina, had the honor of receiving our bishop, Jacques Fabre-Jeune, Bishop of the Diocese of Charleston, South Carolina.
With great joy, the community, for the first time in many years, had the blessing of witnessing a bishop's pastoral visit: a true encounter of faith and communion.
This day was a valuable opportunity to strengthen ecclesial communion, renew our Christian commitment, and experience the closeness of our shepherd.
The visit began with a warm welcome organized by our small team, with the support of our pastor, Monsignor Ronald Celini, and the administrator. The visit commenced with breakfast in the parish hall, attended by some members accompanied by the bishop and an official from the local transportation department. Afterward, we toured the newly acquired land, where we believe a new church-shrine will soon be built, with a suggested name of Our Lady of Hope.
Most of our pastoral agents and numerous parishioners attended a listening session at 3:00 p.m. in English and at 6:00 p.m. in Spanish, where they expressed their feelings, their needs—especially the presence of a bilingual priest—their experiences, their concerns, their doubts, and, of course, their joy at being heard and cared for.
One of the most significant moments was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, during which the bishop invited the entire community to live a more committed and lasting faith, with a formation that goes beyond programs and a willingness to always speak honestly and without fear. He also invited everyone to strengthen the unity of the Church and to pray for our children and young people so that in the future they may respond to God's call to a vocation of service in our Church. He also encouraged us to persevere in prayer, generous service, and the active participation of all the baptized and those who have not yet been evangelized.
We are deeply grateful to Bishop Fabre for his closeness, his words of encouragement, and his pastoral witness. Likewise, we express our recognition and gratitude to all the ministries, small evangelization communities, volunteers, and faithful who collaborated in organizing this Pastoral Visit. We give thanks to God and ask for His help to continue walking in communion with our Diocesan Church, always building the Kingdom of God.
VISITA PASTORAL DE NUESTRO OBISPO DE LA DIOCESIS DE CHARLESTON
El 22 de junio de 2026, la comunidad de la Misión San Antonio en Hardeville, Carolina del Sur, tuvo el honor de recibir a nuestro obispo, Jacques Fabre-Jeune, obispo de la Diócesis de Charleston, Carolina del Sur.
Con gran alegría, la comunidad, por primera vez en muchos años, tuvo la dicha de presenciar la visita pastoral de un obispo: un verdadero encuentro de fe y comunión.
Este día fue una valiosa oportunidad para fortalecer la comunión eclesial, renovar nuestro compromiso cristiano y experimentar la cercanía de nuestro pastor.
La visita comenzó con una cálida bienvenida organizada por nuestro pequeño equipo, con el apoyo de nuestro párroco, Monseñor Ronald Celini, y el administrador. La visita dio inicio con un desayuno en el salón parroquial, al que asistieron algunos miembros acompañados por el obispo y un funcionario del departamento de transporte local. Posteriormente, recorrimos el terreno recién adquirido, donde creemos que pronto se construirá una nueva iglesia-santuario, con un nombre sugerido como Nuestra Señora de la Esperanza.
La mayoría de nuestros agentes pastorales y numerosos feligreses asistieron a una sesión de escucha a las 3:00 p. m. en inglés y a las 6:00 p. m. en español, donde expresaron sus sentimientos, sus necesidades —especialmente la presencia de un sacerdote bilingüe—, sus experiencias, sus inquietudes, sus dudas y, por supuesto, su alegría al ser escuchados y atendidos.
Uno de los momentos más significativos fue la celebración de la Sagrada Eucaristía, durante la cual el obispo invitó a toda la comunidad a vivir una fe más comprometida y duradera, con una formación que trascienda los programas y la disposición a hablar siempre con honestidad y sin temor. También invitó a todos a fortalecer la unidad de la Iglesia y a orar por nuestros niños y jóvenes para que en el futuro respondan al llamado de Dios a una vocación de servicio en nuestra Iglesia. También nos animó a perseverar en la oración, el servicio generoso y la participación activa de todos los bautizados y de quienes aún no han sido evangelizados.
Agradecemos profundamente al obispo Fabre su cercanía, sus palabras de aliento y su testimonio pastoral. Asimismo, expresamos nuestro reconocimiento y gratitud a todos los ministerios, pequeñas comunidades de evangelización, voluntarios y fieles que colaboraron en la organización de esta Visita Pastoral. Damos gracias a Dios y le pedimos su ayuda para seguir caminando en comunión con nuestra Iglesia Diocesana, construyendo siempre el Reino de Dios.
