September was Bible Month at St. Anthony's / Celebración del Mes de la Biblia en la Parroquia de San Antonio

At our St. Anthony parish, we celebrated Bible Month; on Sunday, September 26, we concluded the month as a community with a Bible Fair. Each small community organizes a Bible rally—a fun activity full of prizes—to learn more about the Holy Scriptures, and our community has participated with joy.

En nuestra Parroquia de San Antonio celebramos con gran alegría y entusiasmo el Mes de la Biblia. El domingo 26 de septiembre concluimos este mes como comunidad con una hermosa Feria de la Biblia.

Cada pequeña comunidad organizó un Rally Bíblico, una actividad divertida y dinámica, llena de premios y oportunidades para aprender más sobre las Sagradas Escrituras. Nuestra comunidad participó con mucha alegría, fortaleciendo nuestra fe y profundizando nuestro amor por la Palabra de Dios.

Fue una hermosa celebración de fe, fraternidad y del gran regalo de las Sagradas Escrituras.

Welcome to St. Gregory's Parish // ¡Bienvenido a la Parroquia San Gregorio Magno!

Father began his assignment with St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church and School, St. Anthony Mission Church, and John Paul II Catholic School today!

Here is a little background about Father O’Steen:

Father O’Steen is a native of Greenville and has four brothers, including his twin brother Jordan. He attended local public schools before enrolling at University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in management science in 2017.

During his sophomore year in college, Father O’Steen experienced a renewed commitment to the Catholic faith after moving near the St. Thomas More Catholic Student Center. He described adopting daily prayer, especially the rosary, attending daily Mass, and receiving spiritual direction as pivotal steps in his discernment. He entered seminary formation in 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Regional Seminary, where he studied philosophy and theology.

After ordination, Father’s first assignment, where he served for two years, was at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and School in Columbia, South Carolina. He also served as Chaplain at Cardinal Newman High School.

We pray for Father O’Steen and welcome him warmly to our SGG family!

¡El Padre O’Steen comenzó hoy su nueva asignación en la Iglesia y Escuela Católica San Gregorio Magno, la Misión San Antonio y la Escuela Católica San Juan Pablo II!

Aquí les compartimos un poco sobre el Padre O’Steen:

El Padre O’Steen es originario de Greenville y tiene cuatro hermanos, incluido su hermano gemelo, Jordan. Asistió a escuelas públicas locales antes de ingresar a la Universidad de Carolina del Sur, donde obtuvo una licenciatura en Ciencias de la Administración en 2017.

Durante su segundo año de universidad, el Padre O’Steen renovó su compromiso con la fe católica después de mudarse cerca del Centro Católico Universitario Santo Tomás Moro. Él ha descrito la adopción de la oración diaria, especialmente el rosario, la asistencia a la Santa Misa diaria y la dirección espiritual como pasos fundamentales en su proceso de discernimiento vocacional. Ingresó al Seminario Regional San Vicente de Paúl en 2018, donde estudió filosofía y teología.

Después de su ordenación, su primera asignación fue en la Iglesia y Escuela Católica San José, en Columbia, Carolina del Sur, donde sirvió durante dos años. También se desempeñó como capellán de la Escuela Secundaria Cardenal Newman.

National Eucharistic Pilgrimage thru South Carolina // Peregrinación Eucarística Nacional por Carolina del Sur

In honor of America’s 250th year, the 2026 National Eucharistic Pilgrimage will carry the theme One Nation Under God . One Nation Under God is not a slogan—it’s an invitation to realign our lives, communities, and country under the sovereignty of Christ. It’s a call to build unity through prayer, and to let Jesus, present in the Eucharist, renew and heal the heart of our country, one soul at a time. As pilgrims on this route, we walk with Christ so that His love might draw our nation back to Him. You’re invited to join us, in person or in spirit, and offer prayers and sacrifices for the renewal of America.

The pilgrimage begins over Memorial Day weekend in St. Augustine, Florida, where the first Mass in our country was celebrated at the Our Lady of La Leche Shrine at Mission de Nombres. The route will continue up the Eastern Seaboard through most of the 13 original colonies, reaching as far north as New Hampshire and Maine. Stops will be made in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, our country’s very first Catholic diocese, as well as the Archdiocese of Boston to visit significant national historical sites. The pilgrimage concludes over the 4th of July weekend in Philadelphia, in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

En honor al 250.º aniversario de Estados Unidos, la Peregrinación Eucarística Nacional 2026 llevará el tema Una Nación Bajo Dios . Una Nación Bajo Dios no es un eslogan; es una invitación a realinear nuestras vidas, comunidades y país bajo la soberanía de Cristo. Es un llamado a construir unidad a través de la oración y a permitir que Jesús, presente en la Eucaristía, renueve y sane el corazón de nuestra nación, un alma a la vez. A First Taste of Eternity

On May 10, 2026, twenty-three of our children received their first Holy Communion. Receiving First Holy Communion is one of the most important moments in a Catholic’s life, marking the first time a person receives Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Catholics believe in the Real Presence—that the bread and wine become the true Body and Blood of Christ during the Mass. This is not a symbol or a gesture, but a profound mystery in which Christ Himself becomes truly present under the appearance of bread and wine. In receiving the Eucharist, we are united intimately with Jesus, nourished spiritually, and drawn deeper into the life of the Church. For children receiving First Communion, it is the beginning of a lifelong relationship with Christ in the Sacrament that sustains us and brings us closer to eternal life.

Un Primer Sabor de la Eternidad

El 10 de mayo de 2026, veintitres de nuestros niños recibieron su primera Comunión. Recibir la Primera Comunión es uno de los momentos más importantes en la vida de un católico, ya que marca la primera vez que una persona recibe a Jesucristo en la Eucaristía. Los católicos creen en la Presencia Real—que el pan y el vino se convierten en el verdadero Cuerpo y la verdadera Sangre de Cristo durante la Misa.
